Personal Description:
I am a senior cycle medical student studying in Dublin. Growing up, I had phenomenal mentors that inspired me to pursue careers that incorporated elements of teaching and mentorship. One of the things that excites me about a career in medicine is the opportunity to be a health educator for my patients and peers. My excitement to teach led me to explore various tutoring opportunities over the years. As a result, I have accumulated over 7 years of teaching experience across various disciplines such as math, science, and music. To me, tutoring isn't just about teaching—it's about inspiring a love for learning and helping others reach their full potential.
Tutoring Experience:
Molecular Medicine Tutor (2022 - ongoing, Dublin) - Tutoring incoming medical students in molecular medicine. Providing exam review strategies and advice on approaching the academic challenges of medical school.
MCAT Biology Tutor (2020-2022 Toronto, Canada) – Taught MCAT biology to 5 students. I scored 99th percentile on the biology section of the new MCAT.
First Aid tutor (2020 - 2022 Toronto, Canada) - Developed learning material (PowerPoints, lectures) for medical first responders. Focused on providing online learning experiences as an alternative to in-person meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Highschool Academic Tutor (2017-2022, Toronto, Canada) - Provided one-on-one tutoring for junior/senior cycle students who were struggling academically. Comfortable with teaching topics in Physics, Chemistry, Math, and Biology.
Violin tutor (2016-2022, Toronto, Canada) - Supported underprivileged children with one-on-one violin tutoring at a local community center.
Approach to Grinds:
Having been in school for most of my life, I feel that I am in strong position to empower others through learning. I feel that I can relate well to the struggles of being a student when it comes to studying. My main goal as a tutor is to build the foundational skills for effective learning so that my students can grow and develop their own study strategies. I prioritize taking complex problems and breaking them down into simple, digestible ideas to ensure a thorough understanding of the topics at hand. This has been a skill I continue to fine-tune myself as I progress through medicine, and I am excited to have the opportunity to share it with my future students.
