Personal Description:
Hi, I am Kavin! I am currently pursuing a PhD in Chemistry at Trinity College Dublin (TCD). Previously, I graduated from University College London (UCL) with a first-class MSci qualification in Physics.
I have consistently tutored students in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics for the last 8 years.
Thanks to my targeted approach and emphasis on understanding rather than just memorizing formulas, my students do well. As a result, I'm proud to say most of my (A-Level/College) students were able to get into prestigious universities in such as Imperial College London, UCL and University of Warwick.
I hope to use my passion and my experience in teaching to help you achieve your goals!
Tutoring Experience:
Since starting my PhD in Dublin, I have been tutoring Leaving Cert, Junior Cert, and A-level students, both online and offline, in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. I’ve also supported Master's students in Sustainable Engineering with several of their modules.
In my final year at University College London (UCL), I tutored a student from King's College London on the first-year Physics module "Electromagnetic Theory."
During my first two years at UCL, I was actively involved in the teaching volunteering society called Team Up, where I tutored underprivileged children in London, helping them with GCSE Mathematics and Science. As the assistant program manager at Sacred Hearts High School, I mentored and tutored three students. Additionally, I led the reform and creation of new teaching materials, based on feedback from surveys completed by students and tutors, to enhance the effectiveness of each session.
Before my time at UCL, I worked as a full-time GCSE tutor for Physics, Mathematics, and Additional Mathematics for 9 months.
Approach to Grinds:
I believe the best way to teach someone is to inspire them to learn more about the topic by sparking their interest. I encourage my students to ask me questions both during and outside of class, as teaching is more fun and productive when the students are well engaged in the topic. For every student I teach, I I begin by identifying the areas or topics they find most challenging, and tailor my approach accordingly to help boost their confidence and improve their results. Additionally, I provide my contact details so that students can reach out to me anytime outside of class with questions, ensuring they have continuous support as they progress in their learning.
