I'd been learning Japanese by myself for a while, by studying kanji, listening to podcasts etc. But since I was studying by myself, my speaking skills were very poor. Thanks to Sakiko's help, I'm a lot better at speaking, as well as listening. Sakiko is a patient teacher who is easy to talk to. I've learned a lot of new words and phrases, as well as improved my pronounciation. I've also learned a lot about culture as well, like what is normal to say, and what's a very textbook-y method of speaking. Shivaangee was so attentive to what I needed help with. Every lesson was tailor made and broken down to a level that I could understand. She also gave me advice with techniques that worked for her. Over the last 2/3 months I have seen an improvement with my Japanese and knowing that she is at the other end of the phone for encouragement and advice is very reassuring. Shivaangee has given me a lot of confidence with Japanese, and I no longer find it such a challenge as I have new methods to use which helps me approach the more difficult elements of the language.

Ai has been a great teacher. I requested her services as I was preparing for an upcoming Japanese proficiency exam for work. I had a bit of experience previously with dealing with Japanese customers mainly via email, however I felt I needed a bit of a refresher with face to face communication to improve on my speaking and listening skills. I only had 3 or 4 sessions before my exam, but I felt they were very helpful indeed. I would definitely use her services again should I feel I need more practice in the future. Phill

I have been taught by Ai now for about three months, and I believe that she is a great Japanese tutor. After completing a few years of Japanese classes as a side-project at university, I contacted Ai in hope of continuing my study of Japanese, and I'm very glad that I did. Ai provides a great balance of reading, writing and speaking practice, and also puts in lots of time and effort in to her students by producing personalised lesson plans, vocabulary/ grammar documents and even goes out of her way to find articles on a topic that the student requests, as part of the reading practice. Being both a PhD student and part-time teacher at my university, I was concerned that studying a language would be challenging given my busy life and other commitments. However, I have since found that this is no problem as Ai works hard to set an appropriate amount of tasks to allow me to balance my PhD and study of Japanese. Ai is professional, friendly, and a joy to be taught by. I look forward to lots more lessons with her as I continue towards the JLPT N3!
