She is a great teacher, patient and uncritical, and has tailored the lessons well to my specific needs – I have some Greek vocabulary, but a lot of ingrained bad habits. Alkisti has provided very appropriate teaching materials, and we’ve gone back to basics on certain things – pronunciation, accents – which is helping a lot. Alkisti has been my Greek teacher for a couple of months now. She is really excellent. Her teaching skills are superb. Her English and knowledge of English grammar is better than mine! This is really helpful as she can describe the similarities and differences between Greek and English grammar. She explains things really clearly and uses a variety of teaching methods and exercises to keep the lessons really interesting and to help me learn. When I started the lessons I had only basic speaking skills in Greek and my reading and writing skills and understanding of grammar was limited. However since starting the lessons my reading and writing skills as well as verbal skills have improved significantly together with my understanding of grammar. After each lesson, Alkisti helpfully records and sends me the new vocabulary that we cover and a variety of homework exercises. She is also really patient and explains and clarifies anything that I am finding difficult. I would have no hesitation in recommending Alkisti to anyone wishing to learn or improve their Greek.
