Personal Description:
My name is Rhoan . I am a recently graduated Mechatronic Engineer from Stellenbosch University, with a focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence. I have a passion for maths, science, programming, hockey and I love teaching. I come from Knysna, but finished school in a small town in the Free State, where I matriculated in 2020 with academic colours.
Tutoring Experience:
I have tutored both online and in person for around 5 years.
I have predominantly tutored maths, physics, chemistry, applied maths, programming and electronics at high school and university levels.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to teaching closely aligns with my approach to learning, which is centered around the desire to understand the reasons behind things rather than just the methods used. I believe this will help the student in being confident and able to tackle more complex problems and those that differ to what they are used to, because they are more capable of applying their knowledge.
I try to work at a pace which suits the student, so that they can fully absorb what they have learnt. This pace will be determined based on how quickly the student grasps the work and how confident they are with applying their knowledge.
I am not particularly strict, but I push my students to do the best work they can and to be determined themselves.
My goal is to make the student excited about the work because, when approach correctly, all academics can be interesting and stimulating.
