Information About Sarah - Kildare tutor

Personal Description:

Hi there, my name is Sarah. I am originally from Limerick but live in Naas with my family. As a secondary school teacher for the last ten years, I am passionate about my chosen subjects of English and Geography. Working with young people is such a privilege and it is so important to me to encourage and support my students and help them realise their potential.

Tutoring Experience:

I knew I wanted to become a teacher from a very young age. I went to university in Galway then qualified as a teacher in the United Kingdom. I worked in London for many years before settling in Dublin where I have enjoyed teaching both junior and leaving cert students in a large secondary school. I have recently moved to Naas and I am available for grinds. I love my role as a class tutor and understand the importance of students’ well being during their time in school and the importance of positive relationships as they develop their abilities in subjects that will help them with future education and job opportunities.

Approach to Grinds:

Mutual respect and good communication is crucial. Once we have a chat and find areas that need attention, I will create realistic tasks to help build confidence and tackle problem areas. Regardless if a student is really struggling in the subject as a whole or if they require guidance in a particular topic or area of the course, I will endeavour to create a relaxed and productive environment where students can feel comfortable asking for help and discussing their work. I expect all my students to always try their best even with more challenging elements of the curriculum and to be honest about their strengths and weaknesses in the subject so I can understand where they need most support. I will help them fine tune their abilities and approaches to questions and exam papers. I conduct grinds from my home in person or online via zoom. I also provide catch-up and revision sessions for all year groups (via zoom) over the summer for students who may have missed content during the year.
