Personal Description:
I am a graduate of NUIG with an Honours BSc. in Physics with Applied Physics and an MSc. in Key Enabling Technologies (Applied Physics). I am 29 years old and currently living in Westport. In my free time I like to play music: I play piano, ukulele, trombone and bass guitar. I also love to hike and to pick up new skills (lately I've been learning how to surf!). I have taken a career shift and am currently training to be a Forest School Leader. I will be working with children and young people in the near future to reconnect them with nature and the outdoors.
Tutoring Experience:
I have experience teaching a variety of physics labs to undergraduate students in NUIG which I did for a year in 2018/2019. I also gave physics and computer programming grinds in 2018 while studying for my Masters. I taught Maths and Physics to second level students for a year in 2019/2020 using First Tutors, and now I am back using the service again. I really enjoyed these teaching experiences and received good feedback from students for my teaching approach.
Approach to Grinds:
I like to plan each grind so that it is tailored to the needs of the student. Everyone has a different learning pace and will find some topics more difficult to grasp than others, so the lessons will be focused according to where each students needs the most help. The key to understanding a complicated topic is to put it into context. This will be achieved throughout lessons by applying teaching to real-world, everyday problems and developing the students' creative thinking to allow them to arrive at a solution. This method of teaching helps the student to fully understand a topic rather than just teaching them to learn off solutions, and will give students the confidence to tackle problems by themselves in future.
I love teaching and helping people learn and I put in a lot of effort and enthusiasm into making sure my students get a teaching experience that will help them progress and feel more confident in their subject.
