Personal Description:

My name is Kaya. I am recent graduate from Maynooth University with a degree in Biological and Biomedical sciences.
In addition to my degree I have also done the level 6 course Training Delivery and evaluation (Train the trainer). Although is not exactly a teaching qualification per se, this has given me better insights into: issues learners may have, learning styles, and lesson planning.
I am very passionate about teaching and helping students to improve in subjects and obtain grades they thought not possible.

Tutoring Experience:

Currently I am a tutor for adults and older teenagers in Mathematics and have been thoroughly enjoying this job. Working at this job has given me invaluable experience in identifying areas students may suffer in and how to improve the students understanding.
As well as this, I have informal experience helping friends and family members with problems they have had in their academic studies. These areas include; nursing, biology, and mathematics.

Approach to Grinds:

My approach to grinds is one of first identifying the learners knowledge base and then moving on to topics or issues that the particular student has problems with. I believe in being open to the students input and being patient as some may find it hard to articulate the issues they may be having. Students can get much help from grinds as points that the student previously didn't understand can be clarified, but it is equally important to show students how to direct their own independent learning and study by giving study tips and notes.
