Personal Description:
I am a post-primary school teacher, with over ten years experience teaching higher level leaving certificate and junior certificate Irish and History. I have received a first class honours in the M.Ed (Educational Research) and in the Professional Masters Degree in Education (PME). I also received an honours degree in Bachelor of Arts in Irish and History. In addition to this, I have studied Law Education at Kings Inn College Dublin. I am extremely hard working and I would like to pass this trait onto each student whom I teach. One's overall mark is essential when it comes to state examinations and with my help I am very confident the student will achieve their optimum grade and reach their potential.
Tutoring Experience:
I have a number of years experience teaching first to sixth years Irish and History. I have ten years experience engaging with learners at higher level leaving certificate Irish and History. To add to this, I have lectured and worked as a tutor to third level students with their development of the Irish language (B.A… B.Ed Gaeilge, B.Ed Physical Education and PME) while also spending time in the Gaeltacht with aspirational teachers and school leaders (Principals and Assistant Principals). Since 2016, I have completed lectures in a number of universities regarding the teaching, learning and development of the Irish language.
Approach to Grinds:
I place significant importance on the Irish oral which is worth 40% and a number of grinds would be solely dedicated to the speaking of Irish to ensure the student is more than capable when it comes to the exam at Easter of the exam year. Essay writing is crucial in both History and Irish, and with good timing, a lot of preparation could be done in order for the student to be comfortable on exam day no matter what question might appear on the paper. Notes on essays, poetry, short stories etc. would be provided.
