Personal Description:
I graduated with a BSc Medical Sciences (Hons) degree in 2017 from the University of Exeter.
Due to being in education not too long ago myself I feel that I still have an understanding of how much work and commitment is required during primary up until further education; for both the parents and the pupil. I would like to be part of making the transition between primary and secondary education a lot easier. I believe that each individual has their own way of learning. But I believe patience, engagement and constant encouragement are just some of the key skills to help support and help pupils reach their full potential. I am positive and easy going and believe children should feel comfortable and safe when learning.
I have always aspired to achieve my very best from an early age and look to pass this enthusiasm on to other pupils and students. I took the 11+ and completed my GCSEs at a grammar school so I have first-hand experience of the process, achieving 11 GCSEs at grade A*/A. I then did the international baccalaureate at Tonbridge Grammar School, taking Chemistry, Biology and Geography at higher level. Finally, I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Exeter where I studied for 3 years. I then went on to complete an MSc in Oral Biology from Cardiff University. I am now studying Dentistry at Trinity College Dublin .
I also love playing a lot of sports in my free time, particularly tennis and running.
Home for me is usually in the UK, and I reside in Dublin during term times
Tutoring Experience:
I have ample of teaching experience as I currently teach a number of students at home. This has mostly been GCSE/ Junior cert level science where I have assisted many students who are not too confident or need a little help with understanding. My approach is to keep things simple whilst combining the use of practice questions and papers to help the student attain the very best. This continuous testing is implemented right from the beginning to help boost their confidence. I find students often surprise themselves and do very well. I am also able to teach Secondary level/A level Biology and Chemistry due to my science background and current studies within Dentistry.
Approach to Grinds:
I am happy to travel, however since the pandemic online teaching has worked very well over Zoom, or google meet. It also means we can work collaboratively and notes/presentation slides are often shared to aid visual learners too.
