Personal Description:

I am a 28 year old Copywriter/Content Writer working for a tech company, who has an obsession with poetry and written prose, as well as an undying love for languages. I graduated from TU Dublin in 2019 with a Bachelor's in International Business and Spanish, and later, from University of Limerick with a first class honours in a Master of International Management and Global Business.

I lived in Spain during my Erasmus year, learning about the culture, language and history of Spanish, and perfecting my accent and fluency. I have a real passion for languages, and I want others to love them too. I speak Spanish fluently, Irish semi-fluently, and speak Portuguese after spending a lot of time travelling Brazil.

I'm a very chatty and open-minded person, so even if you just want someone to casually practice your speaking skills with, I would be more than happy to help! I taught English in Spain on a casual basis where I'd meet people in coffee shops and just have a chat about whatever they were interested in. I'm really easy to talk to and open to anything really.

On top of that, I've been a storyteller and poet my entire life. I write poetry on a regular basis, have been chipping away at my own novel for about two years (don't ask me how it's going), and love writing short stories. I'm an avid reader with about 5 books on the go at any given time, and I'm almost finished the Harry Potter series in Spanish.

Tutoring Experience:

During my year in Spain, I taught English to students from 5 to 68 years old, amassing over 500 hours of teaching throughout the year, and 30/week over the summer. I helped many of my friends in final year with Spanish essays and exams, and was able to help one of my friends pass his repeat exams with flying colours. I brought a D average junior cert student up to a B, and have helped multiple students pass their mock exams and prepare for junior and leaving cert, in both Spanish and Business. During the lockdowns, I gave online lessons to about 10 students over the course of 2 years.

Approach to Grinds:

To really learn and appreciate a language, you need to put it into practice, which is why we'll speak Spanish during lessons as much as possible to improve fluency, pronunciation and listening skills. For both business and languages, learning comes from curiosity, so if you have any doubts or questions whatsoever, don't be afraid to ask! Doing lessons with me is like chatting to a friend. I feel that the best kind of learning comes from a casual and laid back atmosphere, where there's no pressure.

For Spanish, I can help with grammar, pronunciation, fluency, listening comprehension, and writing skills. And for business, I can explain things in a way that make sense. So many workbooks use convoluted language that over-complicates the simplest of explanations - luckily, as a Copywriter, I simplify technical concepts for a living! So this comes naturally to me.

Languages shouldn't be a burden. They're so useful in today's world, especially for travelling and working remotely for overseas companies. They just open up so many doors for the future. Patience and practice is the best way to approach language learning. And the same goes for Business.
