Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Chloe and I am a university graduate from Dublin. Currently, I am teaching English at the University of Córdoba in Spain to Spanish university students! I have a passion for teaching and helping others get the best possible results they can at school. From experience, I understand how the Irish education system can seem daunting and difficult to achieve what you are capable of, and I want to help students build their confidence in their study skills.
I studied European Studies at Trinity College Dublin, achieving a first-class honours in my degree. Meanwhile, I achieved 552 points in my Leaving Certificate, which included a H1 in English and History, and a H2 in Spanish. Having lived in the UK from 6th class to the end of 5th year, I was forced to study the entire Leaving Certificate course in one year in a grinds school. This gave me first-hand experience in how to teach students to succeed in their exams effectively.
Tutoring Experience:
Over the years I have had a variety of experience in teaching. Currently, I am working as an English language assistant in the University of Córdoba in Spain. In this role, I teach English to Spanish university students in several degree programs. The level of the students is varied, both within classes and across different subjects, meaning that I must create effective lesson plans that ensure that all students will benefit from their classes.
Relating to the Leaving Certificate, I have three younger siblings who have sat their exams since I finished school in 2018 and I have acted as a grinds teacher to all of them. I tutored them mainly in English, History and Spanish. All three got into their desired university course, two of them achieving 625 points in the Leaving Certificate.
Approach to Grinds:
I take a relaxed, personalised approach to my lessons. I want my students to feel comfortable with me so that they can communicate their exact needs to me. I believe grinds should be cooperative. In school, students may feel that their teachers are not addressing their needs, but in our grinds I want them to feel like their needs are being respected and supported.
I like to establish a clear understanding of what the student hopes to achieve. I encourage students to push themselves to achieve their very best, but I also believe in setting realistic and feasible targets. Everyone has different academic goals that require a different set of grades.
