Personal Description:

I am a warm, friendly teacher with an abundance of patience. I am British and trained as a teacher in the UK where I now live. I have been tutoring for some time now, both face-to-face and online and I just love it! I enjoy building relationships with my students, recognising where they are in their studies and building personalised programmes to help them achieve more than they believe they can!

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching across the 3-11 year old age range for 15 years. I have taught in Ireland, the UK and internationally using a variety of curricula.

Approach to Grinds:

I start each session with a warm-up of ten minutes to get those neurons firing. I cover one or two topics in each session and revisit those topics whilst building on them in subsequent sessions. This is called a spiral technique (the initial focus of instruction is the basic facts of a subject, with further details being introduced as learning progresses. Throughout instruction both the initial basic facts and the relationships to later details are repeatedly emphasized to help enter into long-term memory.)
At the end of each session, there is a 'cool-down' period where we revise what the child has learnt that session with some quick-fire questions!
Throughout my tutoring sessions, I use online resources such as videos and games for a bit of variety.
