Information About Aoife Rose - Dublin tutor

Personal Description:

I am a fully qualified secondary school teacher living in Dublin. I attended UCD for both my Undergrad and Masters Degrees. I am very friendly and understanding and I do have a lot of patience. I am extremely passionate about my subjects and want students to have a genuine interest too so I try to make my lessons as interactive as I can. I have often been described as bubbly, positive and caring, characteristics which I think are essential in pursuing a teaching career.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a full time teacher of History and Geography at both Junior and Senior Cycle level working in a private school in South Dublin. I have over 5 Years teaching and exam experience with my students performing very well in both the new Junior Cycle course in History and Geography and the Leaving Certificate exam in History, where all students received H1's and H2's. I have previous teaching experience in one-to-one classes as over the last two years I have taught the entire Leaving Cert course to a student who was taking History as an eighth subject. We met once a week during the school terms and still had plenty of time for revision at the end. I teach in a small school too so I am very comfortable with small class sizes. I am extremely passionate about my subjects and want all students that I teach to have an understanding of the topics and therefore can approach any question that may appear on the exams.

Approach to Grinds:

My approach to grinds is quite a flexible one. I ensure that the student understands the topic and when it's one-to-one I can give all my attention to that student focusing on the particular areas where they need the most help, i.e timed writing tests if they are a slow writer or writing introductions and conclusions together and how best to approach source and DBQ's for example. As someone who has sat the Leaving Cert in the not so distant past I think I have a very good understanding of the challenges that face students during their exam years. With this in mind, I am very conscious that grinds should not be 'extra work' but instead reinforcing the knowledge they already have and furthering their understanding of a particular topic and how best to approach the exams.
