Not wishing to pass exams or be the next best concert pianist ( the drop down box named me as 'casual'), the most suitable piano teacher had to be the right one for me, with this new learning experience. Her write up appealed to me, over others some 15 miles closer. We are now on lesson 3. On lesson one I was filled with so much confidence, I thought I could be the next best pianist and lesson two, I felt I was on a roll. Third time unlucky and those fingers really did not co-ordinate with those notes both on the piano or on the stave (I am even using the new technical words)! This is unfortunately where my new teacher would learn I am never going to be that next best concert pianist BUT she still remained patient, still encouraged me, still built my confidence and sent me on my way, reflecting on how far I had come in just three weeks. I needed that teacher who wouldn't make me feel at my age I was wasting my time or hers for that matter. I wanted the whole experience of learning to play the piano to be enjoyable and fun but with accomplishment too. Lois for me is that teacher! Yes, I have come so far in just three weeks and I am looking forward to those future lessons, when Lois as the teacher 'just adding her piece' to my playing makes it sound delighful. Hopefully soon there will be music I can play, where she doesn't need to add her piece, for me to sound delightful!
