Robert was my daughter’s piano tutor for almost 5 years between September 2017 to July 2022 . In this time she did her Music GCSE ( achieving Grade 9) and A level (A grade ). With Robert she passed her Piano exams at Grade 4 , Grade 5 ( included theory ) , Grade 6 ( Merit) and Grade 7 . These achievements were nothing short of impressive as both Robert and his students experienced unprecedented and severe challenges due to Covid restrictions and the lessons were virtually run via Zoom for most of 2020 . The grade 6 exam was also virtual and not in person . I will always be grateful to Robert for his exceptional ability to teach his students the joys of music . He even moved from Surrey to Dorset and continued with his students in Surrey . His dedication, patience , his supreme kindness and his ability to overcome the challenges we have seen due to Covid means I have no hesitation in recommending this talented young man to teach your Sons or daughters Piano or any of the other instruments he knows . Malcolm is a great teacher. He is very kind and flexible. He is gentle but observes my playing really carefully and customises lessons according to my needs/progress, which is really great. If I think of his background and world-class professional experience, I feel I'm truly lucky to have found him. (Based on my humble experience, it seems best to have first lessons with someone who has mastered the field at a high standard because they are the ones who know how to achieve things in the right way. Having said this, Malcolm is really humble and would not push his way - he would rather think the best way for me, which is great. Everybody's relationship with their instrument is different based on their physique so it makes sense, too.)
