John is brilliant a really glass half full guy. I needed to get better at sight reading since I joined an amateur choir with many retired professional musicians with high standards. He is very encouraging giving praise when you try, but he spots the tiny errors and corrects them gently so as to keep up your motivation. It has worked well as my lessons are usually the day before the choir's weekly rehearsals. He has a good singing voice himself so is teaching from strength. He is also an accomplished pianist so he plays the score and demonstrates how to produce the best voice sound.
