Information About Yanessa - Royston teacher

Personal Description:

I am a passionate and professional music practitioner, with many years of experience.

I graduated from Uzbekistan State Conservatoire with a Masters in Piano performance and PgDip in Chamber Music in 2004. During that time, I played with the Uzbek Philharmonic and Symphony orchestras as a soloist and as an orchestral pianist developing strong sight-reading and ensemble skills. I also worked as an accompanist at the string department of the Conservatoire. I firmly believe that the best teachers are those who keep on pushing their own development. I have just completed a part-time Masters of Art - The Teaching Musician from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance: expanding both my practical and theoretical teaching experience.

Tutoring Experience:

Courtesy of the nomadic lifestyle of my husband – a British diplomat – I have now had the opportunity to inspire and teach children across four different countries. In three of these (the UK, UAE and the Republic of Korea) I have taken students successfully through the ABRSM system. I have enjoyed raising many talented children from absolute beginners up to Grade 8 and three of my students have successfully passed the DipABRSM in Piano Performance. In every case I taught both the theory and the practical elements. I am also familiar with Trinity and GCSE music requirements.

I worked closely with The Ministry of Culture and Youth Development in the UAE, including as a music theory teacher. My main responsibility was to introduce the ABRSM theory and aural exam requirements to Emirati piano students and other teachers in their Piano Centre.

Whilst in South Korea, in addition to working both as a private and as a peripatetic piano teacher at Seoul Foreign School.

I strongly believe that every student has got their own way of learning and I constantly adjust and improve my teaching methods based on each student's needs.
