Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic trumpet player with a great variety of playing experience. I graduated with a First in Music from Newcastle University, specialising in trumpet performance and conducting, and receiving tuition from Richard Martin. While in Newcastle, I also studied with Jon Holland and John Miller. I have subsequently gained playing experience in a variety of different settings: from solo work and orchestras, to top brass bands, and musicals.
Tutoring Experience:
Over the years I’ve taught students of all abilities, from beginner to advanced. I’ve also taken part in larger-scale professional and semi-professional outreach projects, allowing me to gain experience in getting the most out of brass players of all ages and abilities.
Tutoring Approach:
Its important to tailor each lesson to a student’s ability, learning style and aims. As a general rule though, lessons will include a mixture of warm-ups, specific technical work and learning fun (but challenging) pieces of music.
