Personal Description:
I teach beginner and intermediate one-to-one music production on Ableton, online/remotely.
I am a Creative Sound and Music Technology graduate with over 15 years experience of composing and producing electronic music as well as audio recording and production for myself, a number of record labels, and private companies.
My music production experience comes with a good knowledge of composition and music theory which is part of my tuition.
Tutoring Experience:
I taught music production classes to adults for 2 years for a charity in Leeds, at the age of 21 and while I was still at university. Off the back off this, I have taught a number of students one-to-one in my own home studio, mostly teaching music production on Ableton.
Tutoring Approach:
I teach one-to-one music production on Ableton and my sessions are entirely online using Zoom sessions, so you will need a computer with a copy of Ableton installed and ready to go (there's no need for any 3rd party plugins). Zoom is a really easy and effective way to teach and learn. Sharing your computer screen and audio is very easy (you won't need a premium subscription). I use my Facebook page (link) to arrange sessions and I use PayPal for payments.
My approach to tuition is largely curriculum based, adjusting the pace of the sessions to your level as we go. This is a useful way of affirming existing knowledge and learning new workflows and techniques for you, and will give you new ways to be creative in your composition and production.
We start with a free short introductory session to discuss what you would like to achieve and for you to see if my style of tuition suits you. The curriculum starts from programming and creating drum patterns, and goes onto generating and composing musical ideas, parts and energy levels, arrangement, and mixing and mastering. At the end of each session I set tasks, for you to complete for the next session, so you can develop on what we've gone through and see how you're progressing.
If you're interested please do get in touch and we can arrange a free introductory session to see what you would like from the tuition.
