Personal Description:

I am an electronic music producer with multiple releases on Spotify and other streaming platforms, including collaborations with artists internationally.

I have been making music for over 20 years, first in my teens, writing songs on guitar and piano, and then in my twenties when I began exploring electronic music production with software such as Garageband, Logic and Ableton Live.

I love making music! Now in my thirties I still write songs on guitar, compose classical piano pieces, and create electronic music most days. I often hear music in my head and feel an immense satisfaction from being able to translate that into real sounds quickly and effectively. I am also a big believer in showing up and making music regularly, even when you don't have any immediate ideas - I love using creative exercises and games to keep a rhythm going with my musical output.

I especially love helping other people to find their creative inspiration and develop the technical skills to express themselves musically - I find this extremely rewarding and it's one of my great passions.

I have been using Ableton Live exclusively for over 5 years and this is the software I use for my lessons. I am passionate about using stock Ableton instruments and effects since in 90% of cases any sound can be achieved using native Ableton devices, without relying on third party (often paid) plugins.

More recently, I have been exploring video creation inside Ableton Live using the Videosync suite of video instruments and effects.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching and lecturing for 5 years. This is via a combination of online tutoring, in-person training and lecturing.

In addition to music, I also teach web development. **Removed By Admin**

Tutoring Approach:

I am very person-centered. I will listen to your motivation behind our lessons and any doubts, fears and goals you have.

Your lessons will be built around you and will be relaxed, dynamic and fun. In our first (free) initial chat, we can discuss what you're looking for from your lessons and how we can design them around you. Maybe we will:

- Work on a track for a few lessons so you can get it over the finish line
- Use lessons to create new track ideas every week
- Learn all of Ableton's stock devices one by one
- Cover specific musical questions or challenges you've had recently
- Set specific music challenges and review progress
- Any combination of the above, or something else entirely!

I'm experienced enough to know our learning plan will develop alongside you. I'm excited to learn more about you, and enable you to work towards where you want to be as a musician and producer.

I am especially skilled and passionate in the following areas:

- All Ableton Live functionality from beginner to advanced users, any edition of Live (Intro, Standard or Suite)
- Making the most of stock instruments, audio effects and MIDI effects that come with Ableton Live
- Sound design techniques
- Composition techniques and exercises
- Workflow optimisation
- How to find your unique musical style
- Live 12 MIDI transformation and generation tools
- Effective collaboration including file sharing and versioning tips
- Useful (and free) Max for Live devices
- Troubleshooting mixing issues
- Adding interest and depth to your compositions and/or sound design
- Music theory basics and how to make theory work for you
- Live performance techniques, practice and advice
- Tips, advice and processes for completing tracks
- How to release your tracks on Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming platforms
- Social media promotion tips and advice
- Video composition within Ableton Live using Videosync

Some things I'm not so experienced in, so might not be the best teacher for:

- Recording and mixing vocals or live instruments
- Live performance including hardware and latency
- Mastering
