Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Tinny. I studied oboe performance at the Royal Academy of Music in London (BMus), and at the Hochschule fur Kunste in Bremen, Germany (MMus with Distinction). As a guest oboist, I have played with professional orchestras in the UK, Germany, Sweden and Hong Kong and have performed in music festivals across Europe. I also hold a DipABRSM in piano performance. Prior to my recent relocation back to the UK, I worked as an orchestral oboist and oboe teacher in Sweden for 5 years.

As a pianist, I specialise in accompanying instrumentalists and have been helping students in exams and competitions for more than 17 years. My extensive knowledge in various orchestral instruments enables me to provide extra music coaching alongside piano accompanying.

I am more than happy to arrange a free initial consultation video call to discuss students’ needs before the first lesson.

Tutoring Experience:

I am an experienced teacher who has taught oboe, piano and theory students of all levels and ages. Having lived in six countries, I have had the pleasure of working with diverse groups of students. I respect every student has their own unique learning strengths and needs, therefore lessons are always tailored to ensure every student can learn in a way that is most suitable for them.

Tutoring Approach:

My main goals of teaching are to inspire students' love for music and to ignite their curiosity. I love helping students to reach their full potential and to achieve their goals, whether it is to pass an exam, prepare for a competition or audition, or just to have fun playing music. I also enjoy helping my adult students fulfil their childhood dreams and experience the joy of playing an instrument.

Lessons will be in English but can be supplemented by a second language if necessary (German, Swedish, Cantonese, Mandarin)

Happy to discuss the possibility to travel to students' homes that are within reasonable distance from Birmingham City Centre and are accessible by public transport
