Personal Description:
I am an opera singer and teacher from the north east of England new to the Oxfordshire area. I graduated in 2014 from King's College London with first class honours BMus, and completed my Masters in vocal performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in 2021. As well as spending my days singing and studying classical music, I love musical theatre, Jazz, and Pop. When I'm not singing I love to dance, read, cook and go for the occasional swim.
Tuition offered:
Singing lessons- to students of any age, experience, or ability
Music theory tuition
GCSE/ A Level Music tuition.
Online tuition is also available.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching music on and off since I was a teenager. I have musically directed groups of children, taught general music in German Kindergartens during my time abroad, and worked as a private music teacher.
I am also a CELTA qualified ESL (English as a second language) teacher, with 3 years experience teaching English in groups and as a private tutor. I am patient, enthusiastic and experienced, and can employ pedagogically sound methods.
Tutoring Approach:
First and foremost I love to share my enthusiasm for music with my students. My hope as a teacher is that I can inspire a life long love of music in my students, as well helping them to fulfil their potential.
Empowering my students with a strong and healthy vocal technique is central to my goals as a teacher. I will focus on the breath and a gentle but consistent engagement with the body so that students can feel confident and free to express themselves in their singing, and continue to build on their abilities.
Focusing on the emotion and drama of music is also very important to me as a teacher, and I encourage students to play and explore so that they can fully benefit from all that singing has to offer.
Whether students want to climb the ABRSM grades, prepare for a performance, or sing just for the joy of it, I am happy to work towards whatever goal a student brings.
