Personal Description:
Susanna is a Northern Irish violinist, originally from Belfast. She was a scholar at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she studied with Simon Blendis. Susanna has won numerous prizes such as Help Musicians UK Postgraduate Awards, the Sir James Caird Scholarship and the Homan Potterton String Prize at the Irish Heritage Awards. Susanna previously studied at the Royal Northern College of Music with James Clark and Gina McCormack, graduating with First-Class Honours.
An experienced orchestral musician, Susanna has performed with numerous orchestras in the UK such as English National Ballet, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Scottish and RSNO to name a few. Recent highlights include a tour to Saudi Arabia with the National Symphony Orchestra and performing in the BBC Proms with the Ulster Orchestra. As a former leader of the RNCM Symphony and Opera orchestras Susanna enjoyed leading the symphony orchestra during their residency at the Cantiere Festival in Montepulciano, Italy. Susanna was also leader of the Ulster Youth Orchestra in 2017 and 2018 and was awarded the Milton Violin Award by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
As a soloist and chamber musician, Susanna has performed in prestigious venues in the UK and Ireland such as the Wigmore Hall, Royal Overseas League, Blackwater Valley Opera Festival and the Barnes Opera Festival, London. This year, she was also invited to the Tunnell Trust Chamber Music Course on the Isle of Coll. Susanna was previously selected to perform in solo masterclasses with Thomas Gould at the Dartington Summer School and also participated in the Clandeboye Festival, Bangor, where she studied with Elina Vahala. Susanna was also a Young Artist at the Hard Rain Soloists Ensemble where she performed at Queen’s University, Belfast. During her time at the RNCM, Susanna was selected to collaborate with the Elias and Benyounes Quartets and was a finalist in the Nossek Prize for Chamber Music.

*Online Lessons Available* I am a violin, piano and viola teacher with over six years of teaching experience. As a teacher, I enjoy teaching all ages and abilities and I aim to enthuse and inspire my students to fulfil their musical potential. I am willing to work through ABRSM/ Trinity Exam Grades or just simply help you learn your favourite tunes!
I have taught violin, viola and piano for five years in both 1:1 and group settings. I also teach part- time at the Enfield Music Service and was the assistant violin tutor for the Ulster Youth Orchestra's 2021 Course.
Tutoring Approach:
As a teacher, I believe in tailoring my lessons to each individual student's interests and abilities. My main objective is for every student to enjoy their lessons whilst developing their musical awareness.
