Personal Description:

I studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and after graduating freelanced as a flautist with the Rotal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony
Orchestra , Scottish Opera , Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the orchestra of Scottish Ballet . I am also part of a successful and busy flute and harp duo , working all over Scotland

Tutoring Experience:

I have over 20 years experience teaching flute , from beginner to degree level .I also teach clarinet to grade 5, and music theory from beginner / non music reader to grade 8
I teach in an independent school in Edinburgh and also in further education , as well as privately at home

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the most important thing about learning an instrument , no matter what age , is enjoyment and the eagerness to improve ! It should not be stressful but should be a challenge .I structure lessons to suit age and each student . I cover both ABRSM and Trinity exam
Syllabus , but exams are not compulsory !
I also prepare students for NAT 5 / Higher assessments - encouraging each student to develop their performance technique as well as playing technique
