Personal Description:

I am an experienced Vocal Coach who has been teaching students of all ages and levels for many years. I am also a professional Singer/Songwriter, Singing Voice-Over for TV & Radio Commercials, Session Singer, and perform regularly for gigs in London and abroad. I originally trained in Classical Music, then Musical Theatre, before finding my true voice in Pop and Jazz.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching Singing for fifteen years. Students ages have ranged from 9 to 72, and they have been a mixture of complete beginners, with some experience, returning to singing after many years, and professional pop singers who have been in need of extra confidence.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe Singing should be fun. If you are enjoying learning, you are more likely to immerse yourself in it, push yourself further and get the most out of it. Although scales and exercises are important in honing technique and getting your vocal 'toolkit,' I believe they should only be a part of the lesson, and most of the time should be spent on the song itself, where you can apply, learn and understand expression and musicality within context. Lessons are therefore friendly and relaxed, but challenging and motivating. I teach "Forward Placement Technique", which is superb in strengthening, understanding how to breathe and support correctly, widening range and ironing out "weak" areas of the voice.
