Personal Description:
I am an Italian freelance harpist and private teacher based in London.
I have graduated from the Royal College of Music with a Master of Performance with Distinction and previously with a second class bachelor of Music with Honours.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taken lessons and masterclasses from many top-class professors at the RCM including Marisa Robles, Catherin Michel, and Jana Bousková who have given me different invaluable techniques to pass on. I am experienced at starting a child's journey
with the harp. I am happy to prepare them for exams, run mock exams, and teach all the key elements needed for the child to become successful on the harp. I make sure to document lessons with a harp diary and within it, I set goals and targets to encourage growth in skills and learning. Throughout the past six years, I have gained a great deal of experience of one-to-one instrumental teaching of harp, theory, and aural. I also took a module in instrumental teaching, in which I completed work experience at St Mary's School Clapham, which included teaching a group lesson to beginner students of different abilities. Also whilst taking these modules, I analysed the way the teachers and leaders undertook the lesson, and through this, I began to understand what is successful when teaching.
Tutoring Approach:
I currently teach 7 students privately every week and this has helped me to come across different issues, working with children, adults with different levels and learn the best techniques in how to solve them.
Besides performing, teaching has always been an integral part of my career. As a teacher, I strive to pass on my knowledge in an accessible and structured manner, and I value my student's needs and opinions. It is very important to me to have a good communication with individual student and to become a teamwork with them. I always stress the importance of honesty in individual lessons, as I believe this is the key to success.
I work on technique, posture, musicality, rhythm, singing, aural skills, notation, sigh-reading, memory, improvisation and performance so that there is a simultaneous learning and lessons are varied and interesting.
