Personal Description:

I love sharing the joys of music making with students and audiences. Before moving to Shrewsbury, I spent over 10 years in New York City freelancing in orchestras, operas, and musicals including performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. I continue to perform with orchestras and chamber music ensembles across the Midlands and in North Wales. My teachers have included Andrew Lane (former Piccolo with the CBSO) Mindy Kaufman (Piccolo with the New York Philharmonic) and Keith Underwood. I have a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance, summa cum laude, from New York University.

Tutoring Experience:

My students have included four year olds and adults in their seventies. I have taught new beginners of all ages and flute students beyond grade 8. I also spent three years teaching group flute classes for the Harmony Program which provides lessons for disadvantaged children in New York. During the pandemic one of my American online flute students successfully auditioned for the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in New York City. I have also taught numerous piano students through early intermediate repertoire.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor lessons to each individual student's goals and learning style. I offer both Suzuki and traditional style flute lessons. I am certified to teach Suzuki Flute Lessons. I am happy to help with exam preparation for those who are interested. I believe that everyone can develop confidence, perseverance and self expression through lessons.

My piano students get a solid introduction to piano technique and music theory and when they are well into intermediate repertoire I can refer them to colleagues who specialize in piano.
