Information About Susannah - Guildford teacher

Personal Description:

Hi there, I'm a 20 year old university student currently studying music. I am an advanced level classical guitarist with a particular passion in 20th Century Music, especially Choro and experimental. My playing is highly influenced by the guitar composer and performer Pernambuco. I also have an interest in Jazz music and new-wave pop.

Through my guitar playing I have gained some fantastic experiences. I have been taught by legendary guitar players such as Carlos Bonell and Ali Arango. I also had the privilege of being mentored by up-and-coming guitarist Yaroslava Ihnatenko, which has massively enhanced my playing and understanding of the instrument. On top of this, I have toured Lake Garda as part of a small band and performed at a number of local recitals. While I haven't completed my degree as of yet, I have cultivated fantastic experiences as a guitar player.

Tutoring Experience:

I haven't had much teaching experience, but for a short stint I was lucky enough to teach some children with physical and learning disabilities. The experience opened my eyes to how important music is for communication, community, and innovation. It was fantastic to explore how to make guitar playing easy for those that may need more help to play guitar.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very flexible approach to teaching the guitar as I would want it to be an easy and exciting experience. I would not like to limit students by only teaching them how to play for grades and would prefer to expand their knowledge of music and repertoire. My teaching would be very flexible, only relying on students to be passionate and prepared for their lessons. I will put all my energy into nurturing a student's budding love for music.
