Personal Description:
Sarah graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire where she attained her BMus Honours in June 2016, having studied flute with Marie-Christine Zupancic (Principal Flute: City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra), Diane Clark (Orchestra of the Swan) and piccolo with Andrew Lane (Ex City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra). Prior to attending Birmingham Conservatoire, Sarah studied with Karen Jones (London Chamber Orchestra and City of London Sinfonia).
Sarah has a variety of playing experience in both orchestral and solo positions at Birmingham Conservatoire and after graduation. This includes Ernest Read Symphony Orchestra, London Shostakovich Orchestra, I Maestri and Amadeus Orchestra.
Sarah is fully DBS checked. She is happy to travel to students' homes.
Tutoring Experience:
Sarah is a qualified primary school teacher, evidencing valuable experience of working with children in a classroom environment. She has a particular interest in music education and outreach, for example as a mentor at Junior Birmingham Conservatoire, where she thrived mentoring talented students (whose ages ranged from children to young adults) to a high standard in orchestra, wind band and flute group rehearsals.
Other experience includes assisting with the running of Music Maze, a series of creative musical workshops for beginners run by Birmingham Contemporary Music Group (an established, prestigious chamber group in Birmingham). Sarah assisted the workshop leader by helping and encouraging participating children to engage with music. Sarah also delivered her own workshops in local schools in Birmingham.

Tutoring Approach:
Sarah is a positive, outgoing and enthusiastic teacher. The most important aspects of Sarahs teaching are rehearsal etiquette, technique and discipline.
