Personal Description:
I have a deep passion for all things music—whether it’s listening, watching live performances, playing, or performing on stage. As a performing musician, I’m actively involved in several bands as well as pursuing solo projects. I love creating music that ranges from tender and soft to loud and energetic.
I also work as a Sound Engineer and stage technician, I have worked in concerts professionally for 14 years, touring internationally, engineering albums, mixing for film or tv.
For me, teaching is about sharing the knowledge and joy I’ve gained from my own musical journey. It’s a space where I aim to inspire and support others as they embark on their own paths into music. My goal is to help students navigate their unique journeys, fuelled by the excitement and enthusiasm that comes with playing and exploring music.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been playing guitar in bands for 18 years, I have a diploma of guitar performance and am currently studying guitar at degree level as a mature student, I have taught privately for a number of years, as well as working in short term intensive workshop style spaces. I have taught informally countless hours in sound tech roles, as well as running workshops for teenagers.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe everyone has it in them to be musical, it's about talent being grown and nurtured in an atmosphere thats fun and safe to express oneself. The joy in the experience of playing music is most important, with everything else following. I aim to explore the interests of the student and work towards them learning and being able to play their favourite music.
I employ the use of fundamental techniques of guitar and add in theory when suited to deliver a well rounded approach to learning. My lesson time preference between 30-60 minutes, dependant on age. My lessons are for children and teens interested in playing music and in bands, but also adults looking for a new hobby of creative outlet.
