Personal Description:
Experienced and contemporary vocalist, musician and singing coach specialising in jazz - capable of helping performers of all skill levels advance abilities, gain confidence and take on new amateur and professional challenges. Adept at interpreting songs, teaching vocalists how to embody the music, and provoke an emotional response in the audience.
Throughout my whole life, I have immersed myself in music and singing. At the age of 7 I started piano and vocal lessons which led to writing my own music at the age of 12. This gave me the goal of wanting to sing my own original music to an audience. I decided to apply for The Brit School for Performing Arts and Technology in London. From here I decided to Specialise in Jazz and went on to graduate with a first-class honours degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance as a Jazz vocals student.
I have played at venues all around London: in known jazz clubs such as Ronnie Scott's, The Spice of Life, and Oliver’s jazz bar. I have also sung solo and been a member of the cast at many famous theatres such as at Leicester Square Theatre, Theatre Royal Haymarket, White Rock Theatre Hastings and Theatre Royal Brighton.
In 2018, I came back from Norway, studying jazz and Norwegian folk music at The Edward Grieg Academy. I now regularly visit for gigs with my band there. In 2019 I was working in China for a few months singing at a jazz club. I returned to London to finish my degree and to continue with my teaching.
Tutoring Experience:
I have years of experience teaching privately as well as leading workshops in schools and nurseries. I am very passionate about teaching as I believe it is one of the most rewarding activities to guide and help a student develop their own sound!
I teach students from absolute beginners to advanced levels, after students have completed their grade 8 exams. I also teach all ages - it is never too late to start singing!
Tutoring Approach:
I like to understand what it is my student wants to improve on and set goals to achieve so I can help them reach their maximum potential. I also want the lesson to be enjoyable and let the student be creative with repertoire and song writing!
I can help with : Technique, posture, building repertoire, working towards 1-8 ABRSM, Rock school and UWL grades. I can also give guidance with composition and developing one's own sound as a vocalist/artist! If you have any questions - let me know and I will be sure to get back to you as soon as I can :)
