Personal Description:
Specialist Electric-Bass Guitar Tuition delivered by a qualified (PGCE, MA & BA(Hons) in Music) Teacher & Music Industry Professional. With a wealth of teaching and performing experience, Rory has been educating students from all over the world, helping them to successfully achieve their musical aspirations. Previous students have included: Jordan Fish (Bring Me The Horizon) & Carol Decker (T'Pau).
Rory has been performing live for over 15 years, playing in front of thousands of people and has worked alongside musicians including: Clem Cattini (Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Paul Wella), Mike Hurst (The Springfields, T-Rex, Cat Stevens), Ray Fenwick (The Spencer Davis Group), Nick Fyffe (Jamiroquai), Jack Duxbury (James Bay, James Arthur) and Donavon Frankenreiter to name but a few.
Tutoring Experience:
Rory is a Qualified (QTS) Mainstream Classroom Music Teacher (PGCE) and has taught both A-Level & GCSE Music. Furthermore, Rory has worked for Rocksteady, Europe's largest Music School, teaching KS1-3 students how to play in a band.
Tutoring Approach:
Lessons are tailored and differentiated for individual student needs, interests and aspirations. Students have the opportunity to study a wide variety of musical genres including: Rock, Pop, Heavy Metal, Funk, Soul, Motown, Jazz, Blues, Reggae, RnB, & Hip-Hop.
Students are encouraged to experiment with numerous techniques such as: Traditional Finger-style, Slap, Thumb-Muting, Raking, Finger-Tapping, Artificial & Natural Harmonics.
Furthermore, students will be advised to: listen to a wide variety of new music to expand their musical horizons; learn to sight read; study musical theory; undertake original composition; study improvisation, composition & recording; join a band/ensemble and take exams.
All lessons are supported with a variety of easy access, online video resources.
