Personal Description:

I am an very experienced musician and teacher who has played with many different ensembles and taught professionally for over twenty five years.
I have also lectured in Music Technology and can offer one to one software/composition lessons on Logic and Reason.

Tutoring Experience:

I have worked as an instrumental teacher for several Music Services' and have taught Secondary Music from Key Stage's 3 to 5. I then moved into Further Education where I taught Music/Music Technology for 8 years.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is focused on the needs of the student, whilst reflecting on my vast experience as a teacher. Although there is no substitute to frequent and applied practice, my years of teaching experience have allowed me to develop methods that allow students to progress quickly towards their chosen goals. Without this kind of expert guidance bad habits can develop that are difficult to change and a lot of time and energy can be wasted with little progress being achieved. Learning an instrument should be a fun and fulfilling experience where you can develop at your own pace with an approach that should mean you become a lifelong learner. For some people playing music could become a career but many people learn to play an instrument for pleasure and relaxation. Whatever your goals are, we can work together to achieve them.
