Hello, thanks for taking the time to view my profile!
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching both privately and in schools since graduating from Southampton University with a first class degree in Music, specialising in performance and commercial composition.
I teach people of all ages and abilities, so whether you are looking for a teacher for yourself or for your child, whether you have never picked up a musical instrument before or are already an accomplished player, looking to explore new avenues, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
Tutoring Approach:
Learning a musical instrument is not easy, but that does not mean it shouldn't be fun! Everyone learns differently, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach, so I work with each student individually to find what works best for them. I teach a large range of styles and genres, and encourage my students to explore as many of these themselves as possible. If there is a particular type of music you aspire to, I will happily focus on this with you, even if it means doing some extra research and learning of my own. Thanks to certain students' interests, I now have knowledge of genres I probably never would have explored on my own, such as Balkan folk music or Italian mandolin music.
Fees are £35 for an hour or £19 for half an hour. I am happy to offer a 50% discount on your first lesson.
Please get in touch if you’d like to arrange some lessons or have any questions!

His lessons are enjoyable and he can always find ways to improve my play. The lessons are super flexible and provide the technical knowledge and skills that I need to progress as a musician, from sheet music, exercises and other learning material.
With his guidance, I feel like I have improved a lot in a short span of time. I look forward to future lessons with him!
Just concerned whether I have the correct contact details for Rob as not had a response to the email I sent him regarding my contact details!
I am an adult learner with no experience in Music. I am learning as a casual learner. Initially I wanted to learn the Saxophone "blind"… in other words - in the least Academic way possible. After a few lessons, Rob has inspired me to take a step forward into the World of Reading Music and Music Theory. As I am learning Guitar elsewhere, he is happy to answer questions regarding Music being a universal language amongst all Musical Instruments. There are overlaps and some differences.
Rob has taught me how to maintain my Saxophone and has suggested items to buy to maintain Saxophones. And accessories and how to use them.
I look forward to lessons and find them fun.
I'll certainly be booking another hour with him sometime soon.
