Personal Description:
Hi! My name is Rebecca and Iām a freelance trumpet player from Ayrshire working predominantly in Glasgow. I was first introduced to the joys of music making at a young age when I joined a local brass band as a cornet player. I then went on to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where I gained my Bachelor of Music (Performance) with Honours. During my time at the RCS I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the finest brass players and teachers that the world has to offer. I have since worked with some of the finest orchestras in the country including Scottish Opera and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. I have also worked abroad, appearing as a soloist in countries across Europe including Germany and Norway. I am about to begin studying for my Masters degree at the RCS where I will continue to gain more knowledge about the wonderful world of music making which I can hopefully pass on to my students!
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught privately for almost 2 years and have also appeared as a course tutor abroad and at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland brass summer school. Most of my experiences have been in teaching younger/teenage students but I enjoy teaching more experienced students as well. I also have experiences in youth/adult ensemble coaching which varies from small ensembles to 50 strong wind orchestras.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that we must enjoy learning in order to achieve our potential. The enjoyment we get from learning breeds passion and enthusiasm. This principle works the same in music which is why I aim to create a fun but focused learning environment without sacrificing correct technique or freedom of musical expression.
