Personal Description:

Holding degrees from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, I am a professional viola player with a varied career focused on chamber music. My performing career has taken me up and down the British Isles and beyond, primarily with the award-winning Glasgow-based Resol String Quartet, with which enjoy a busy performance calendar. In demand as a freelancer, I have performed with the Manchester Camerata and Glasgow Barons among others.

Tutoring Experience:

Having taught privately and conducted workshops with the Resol String Quartet over the years, I have extensive experience in teaching general musicianship and music theory. My primary expertise, however, is as a specialist viola instructor.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe fundamentally that the viola is itself an instrument that has distinct technical requirements to the violin, and as such I teach in a viola-centric way! I have, in fact, never played the violin and make my living solley from being a violist. There are many things we viola players must do on our instrument that are inherent to the viola's unique voice in the violin family.
