Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Pierre! I am a professional composer, trombonist, improvisor and educator based in South-East London. I have taught people of all ages from children starting a new instrument as young as 11 (I hold an enhanced DBS) to adults seeking to enhance their professional skills or hobbies.
I am a positive, enthusiastic and friendly teacher and I cherish the opportunity to nurture the skills of children and adults of all ages. Music is a wonderful part of my life, why not make it part of yours.
Tutoring Experience:
Across the last ten years, I have taught workshops in schools, delivering composition lessons across different disciplines. I have delivered educational music programmes with Psappha and in partnership with the New York Philharmonic. I have run SEND music sessions independently and as a facilitator, and I have specialised in 1-1 brass, piano, composition and improvisation teaching at all levels in Manchester, London and Maidstone. I have taught all ages and all abilities from just starting out a new passion to honing your skills post-conservatoire and entering the professional world.
I have an originals project in my own name which I write the music for, play in on trombone and gig. I am a proficient theatre composer and sound designer, with original music and sound being created for shows. My own music has been performed by various professional ensembles across the country, and have featured in several video games and short independent films. I have a very good basis in teaching composition for media, film, video game, contemporary, classical and jazz. I produce music using Logic, Reaper and Cubase for film and game, so can also teach this if desired.
Tutoring Approach:
I have found from my own personal experience that an individual will work hardest at what they are most passionate about, so I strive to mould my tuition around each student's individual interests. I can guide you at any pace and in any style of music you'd like to focus on.
I am a friendly, highly experienced and passionate musician and I love to listen and learn from my students equally. I'm always incredibly flexible, but ultimately I am there to help nurture and help grow each person's passion for music, and I will do my utmost best to achieve that!

It's been an absolute pleasure to teach you
Pierre has a friendly and enthusiastic approach , and he has been methodical, patient and encouraging throughout, in both the lessons, and following up with homework and bespoke development plans. I would recommend Pierre as a tutor unreservedly.
I have gone from being an adult who had a longstanding wish to be able to play the trombone, to an adult who is getting to grips with being able to play different scales and basic tunes on the instrument, as well as beginning to improvise as well. Thank you Pierre !
He was keen to listen to what my son (now in Y13) wanted to achieve and what he's interested in, and has tailored the lessons accordingly. Pierre quickly tuned into my son's learning style too.
So they are exploring working towards Grade 8, but also fitting in some improvisation on the way!
My son is really enjoying the lessons and his practice, and I can see that he is improving his technique as well as taking on some more challenging playing. Thank you Pierre!
