Personal Description:
Phillip is a composer, performer, and mathematician currently based in Birmingham.
Graduating with a distinction in a Masters of Music in Composition at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire studying under the tutelage of Andrew Toovey and Andrew Hamilton. Previous teachers include Seán Clancy and Ed Bennett. He has also had masterclasses/lessons with Bee Tuan Koh, Richard Ayres and Geoff Hannan. In the summer of 2022 he was shortlisted for YLSS (Yorkshire Late Starter Strings) New Music Competition and received tutoring by Nicola LeFanu.
Phillip enjoys working with conventional notation, graphic scores and a range of other mediums. He has worked in a number of collaborative partnerships, most recently with Catherine Mole for the CODA festival. Other aspects of his work includes Theatre as a form, writing music for plays and writing operatic works. In the summer of 2023 he attended a course at CAMPFR hosted by Philip Venables on Composing for Stage.
