Personal Description:
Peter . Composer / keyboards.
I have played the piano from an early age: classical, improvisation, contemporary.
I teach piano, harmony, theory.
I play keyboards, synthesizers, Hammond organ.
Founder and creative director of 'Making it Up' Music / Dance / Film.
In the last few years I have composed for / played on / filmed thirty-five music videos, two films, several dance / ballet pieces, etc.
I played keyboards with the band ‘Cressida’, touring and releasing two ‘classic prog rock’ albums on Vertigo. Current re-issues: ‘Cressida’ The Vertigo Years Anthology 1969-1971’ ECLEC22348; and (Vinyl) Repertoire V 120 / Rep 2225 & V119 / Rep 2224.
Many other bands / recordings.
I am currently with a London band recording their third album.
Chris Welch, renowned music journalist, writes:
"Peter … compares favourably to Keith Emerson of ELP and Jon Lord of Deep Purple. One might even dare to suggest that in improvisational jazz terms he is a superior soloist; he is certainly more tasteful… One can imagine an audience of fellow organ players such as Brian Auger and Graham Bond staring nonplussed at stealing their thunder".
Tutoring Experience:
Alongside other projects I've been a private tutor on and off for many years. Some of this time was spent preparing younger pupils for their grade exams in piano and theory, some was teaching children and adults who were interested in pursuing other things (e.g. composition, harmony, improvising, 'rock' in its various forms).
Tutoring Approach:
My approach is tailored to the individual, towards helping them work on whatever it is they wish to do.
This may be starting at music, taking steps towards exams, or exploring music of their own.
Work can be done at the piano / synthesizer / organ.
Half-an-hour lessons are quite sufficient for younger children.
