Personal Description:

Following my studies at The Royal Academy of Music (1978-1982), my professional career began as a violinist with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (1982 - 89). I then spent 3 years abroad playing with an international orchestra based in Portugal; there immersing myself in a new culture and developing new language skills. After returning to England, I worked as a free-lance orchestral violinist before becoming mother to my three sons. Since 1995, I have combined this role with that of private tutor of violin/piano/theory alongside professional playing. More recently, I rekindled my interest in languages by completing an Open University BA degree in English and French Language Studies.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching violin/piano/theory since 1995, both in the public sector as a peripatetic and also privately at home. I have taught both children and adults at all levels.

Tutoring Approach:

First and foremost, I want to build a good understanding with any pupil, tailoring the way I teach according to their individual needs and encouraging their interaction.
I am keen to help pupils to extend and develop their skills and understanding by using today’s technological resources as well as more old-fashioned methods.
