Personal Description:
I am a classical musician based in Golspie, East Sutherland, although I do some teaching in Edinburgh. Having started my musical studies at the age of three, I have extensive experience of playing in all kinds of musical ensembles duos and trios all the way up to symphony orchestras, from very early music to contemporary (on the guitar and bassoon- but not at the same time!). I studied music at Napier University and continued my studies at Edinburgh University where I also gained a degree in Psychology. I have toured with orchestras and ensembles all over the world and have played in master classes with some amazing musicians including Alan Neave, John Mills, Amanda Cook, Helen Sanderson and Gary Ryan.
I love to continue to learn and I have a passion for helping children and adults learn and grow and to enjoy making music and make learning an instrument a rewarding part of their lives.
I am PVG checked.
Tutoring Experience:
I have experience teaching both adults and children, one to one and in a small group setting within primary and secondary schools.
I guide students who want to take exams through the process of ABRSM and Trinity exams, and help to prepare them accordingly.
I am also available to teach via Skype and Zoom. Please note: at the moment (September 2023 I am teaching both online and face to face).
Tutoring Approach:
My emphasis is on enjoying music making and having fun whilst learning. I combine learning by ear and by reading music. Aural training and theory of music are included seamlessly into enjoyable lessons and students usually progress quickly.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback. I look forward to seeing you again.
Best wishes,
Patricia
I thought that we would have started at a point making use of my knowledge base, but to my delight we have started at the very beginning at the same level as any of her child pupils.
This to me is a great advantage because it allows me to overcome my many bad habits while recapping on the theory I do know (but may have forgotten).
In our tutorials Patricia is kind, encouraging, and patient demonstrating empathy for her pupil. I could not give this tutor anything but the highest praise for her approach to teaching her subject. In closing I would like to say that if you are thinking of taking lessons from Patricia do not hesitate you will find, as I have, one of the best available tutors for your needs.
