Tutoring Experience:
I have experience teaching music and english to french children aged 5-9 in France prior to starting my degree, as part of my job as an Au-Pair. I have also conducted and rehearsed several choirs.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that singing should be both enjoyable and challenging and that is what I hope to accomplish in my approach. Every voice is unique and so therefore every student requires a unique approach. If I had to summarise the most important aspects of a successful tutor-student relationship, I would say patience, practice, respect and honesty. I am also keen to take into account what balance of 'serious/laid-back' the student is looking for, and how much time the student is able/willing to devote to practice. I always prioritise vocal health by using good technique supported by day to day vocal care and can therefore help students to develop their vocal strength in a healthy and sustainable way.
I believe it is a tutor's (my) responsibility to listen to the student and mould their (my) teaching style to suit the student's needs and learning style and that the tutor should inspire the student's love of music!
Although I am new to teaching online - I have discovered several useful techniques since lockdown started that make this new lesson format exciting!
Most important of all, I aim to make lessons enjoyable and fun because that's what singing should be.
