Personal Description:
Hi! As a teacher and musician, my aim is to make music accessible and nurture creativity. I am a graduate of the Royal College of Music and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, having received the Pete Beaumont and Jane Melber Saxophone Prizes at both institutions. As a saxophone, clarinet, and flute tutor and music workshop facilitator, I regularly provide services for Opera North In Harmony, Lancashire Music Service, Artis, and Intergenerational Music-Making. Highlights of my performing career include my concerto debut, Michael Nyman's Concerto for Saxophone and Cello, the founding of two award-winning saxophone quartets (Lucerna and Yugen), and placing as a finalist in the Yamaha Europe Scholarship competition. My specialism is classical saxophone but I can also provide guidance on jazz, the flute, and the clarinet, having benefitted from tuition in all these areas while studying at music college.

Tutoring Approach:
My teaching prioritises musical expression and creativity at every step. I know the enormous benefits that music-making can have for every person, so I cater for all ages and abilities, whether you are working towards an audition or simply want to pick up an instrument for the pure enjoyment of it. I adapt my teaching to suit the individual. I encourage students to aim high, then guide them with small but sure steps to achieve their goals. I strive for lessons to be a space where the learner feels empowered and confident as a musician, and am always sure to provide the learner with the tools and skills to enhance the quality of their practice time at home. Above all, my lessons are built on the joy of music, never forgetting that, fundamentally, making music is good fun!
