Personal Description:

I am Nicola BA Hons, PGDip, MMus, a professional musician based in Glasgow. I provide music lessons in my home for Piano, French Horn, Trumpet and Trombone. I cover a wide range of repertoire (Classical and Jazz) and prepare pupils for Associated Board exams. I also offer assistance for those wishing to sit the SQA Standard and Higher practical examinations. All my pupils have a high success rate

Tutoring Experience:

My current pupils have a wide age range and varying ability from beginner to advanced. Past pupils have gone on to study at the Junior Academy (RSAMD) and undergraduate degrees at the RSAMD and further afield to Oxford.

In addition to teaching music lessons privately I also teach in both primary and secondary schools and am a freelance horn player with all the major orchestras in Scotland

Tutoring Approach:

Lessons last thirty minutes however can be tailored to suit pupils’ requirements. For example, pupils who are studying at a more advanced level (Grade 5-8) would require between forty five minutes and one hour per session.

Students should have regular weekly lessons which are conducted in my living room. My piano is a Reisbach Grotrian-Steinweg upright.

Parents are welcome and encouraged to sit in on lessons and relax on the sofa. If you do not wish to stay or are unable to because of prior commitments, you can leave your child and collect them after the lesson. I have an Enhanced Disclosure (equivalent to English CRB) with North Lanarkshire and East Ayrshire authorities
