Personal Description:
Hello,
I completed my Advanced Performance Course at the University of Chichester after graduating with a 2:1 in my BMus Performance music degree in 2016. Whilst at University, I took part in a number of orchestras including the University Chamber Orchestra, in which we performed at Goodwood House and recorded at Abbey Road Studios several times. I am now in a professional string quartet and violin duo, performing at weddings and corporate events across the south coast. I have a love of teaching and have put many students in for exams. Every year my students take part at the Chichester Festival of Music in which they have won trophies. I currently have almost 100 students (95!) that I teach in the local area.
Tutoring Experience:
I currently teach a large number of private students (over 40!) from ages 3 to 83 years old. I also teach around 55 students in 6 local schools! I really have a passion for teaching and I'm very flexible around individual needs. Everybody learns at a different speed and I try to plan my lessons accordingly! I spent 2 years assisting the West Sussex Music Trust with their ensembles, orchestras and group violin lessons and alsoI attended their string training programme.
Two years ago I became an accredited StringBabies teacher after training to teach young children how to play violin using teddy bears and shapes.
I have also completed the ABRSM online course 'Becoming a Better Music Teacher'.
I provide violin lessons to six local schools, 4 primary, 1 junior and one secondary. This includes group lesson teaching and entering students in for exams. My students currently have a 100% exam pass rate with both Trinity and ABRSM exam boards.
Tutoring Approach:
When teaching I always prepare my lessons in advance. Everybody learns in a different way so I adapt my style to individual needs. For young children I create games to help them learn and to make it fun! When I teach adult beginners I also listen to their needs, including allowing them to choose music they like from classical to folk.
I am happy to teach anywhere from 30mins to 2 hour lessons. I charge £20 for 30mins or £35 per hour at my house. I also teach in other locations, price depends on area and distance. I have students I teach in Bognor Regis where I rent a room at The Regis school of music. I also have students in Aldingbourne, Fishbourne, Itchenor and Tangmere etc. My timetable is flexible and you don't necessarily have to have the same time each week! I hope to hear from you soon :)
