Personal Description:
I was born in Argentina, to a very musical family, so instruments have been around me since I was a baby!
I started violin lessons when I was 8 (almost 20 years ago), and I haven't stopped since. I've been through many different teachers, workshops, and playing experiences, with different people and different methodologies. After finishing school I went to University to study to be a Music Teacher, specializing on the Viola. During my 5 years there I had much experience in ensemble and orchestra playing, even becoming a part of a Symphonic Orchestra! (Orquesta Sinfónica FCP)
Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish my degree as I had to put it on hold to come to Wales, for personal circumstances. But here I'm still working on my skills through private lessons (having passed my Grade 5 Music Theory with a Distinction, and having just sat my Grade 8 Viola exam) while also teaching violin in a local music school, Llanelli School of Music and Drama.
Tutoring Experience:
I started teaching violin when I was 17 (almost 10 years ago), then focused on my studies until restarting my tutoring this last year. I've been teaching in-person violin lessons throughout the year, and am finding it very rewarding to see the pupils' improvement!
I havn't yet taught online lessons, but I've been through some myself and find it useful, especially if complimented with an occasional in-person lesson, even if that must be with another tutor due to distance.
Tutoring Approach:
My teaching is based on what I've learnt on my own journey with many different teachers with a variety of methodologies, and on what I progressed in my university degree, as well as everything I learn on the go as I teach!
I'm always working with my pupils to find a relaxed and balanced body posture, as this is essential to good and long-term playing. We'll also spend plenty of time going back to basics, working on good sound production, and developing a good, solid tecnique which will be a firm foundation for everything that will come further on.
If you're a complete beginner, I find the Fiddle Time books very useful, as they provide material on which to work on and put into practice the techniques learnt, but I'm willing to adapt to whatever material or methodoly you might prefer. In whatever case, I try not to become a slave of the book, working also on developing a musical ear, finding good sound, and spending time on simple exercises that can then be applied to the pieces or the book.
Whether you're working on your grades, or want to start from scratch; whether you're focused on good technique or just want to get some melodies sounding on your great-grampa's violin, I hope I can help you along in your musical journey!
Looking forward to hearing from you!
