Personal Description:
I have a lot of stamina and energy, passion and drive for music.
Although born in Moldova, I am fluent in three languages, English, Romanian and Russian.
Tutoring Experience:
I've been teaching piano grades and piano for enjoyment for over 15 years. I run a private teaching studio from home. My students are of various ages, ranging from 3-80. I hold a degree in Instrumental and Vocal Teaching.
Tutoring Approach:
Every person is different and I try to personalise the lessons to individual needs. All my demonstrations are backed up by visual print-outs, the pieces are selected according to musical preference and level. The lessons are pre-planned with clear goals. Weekly practice sheets are used with specific points on how to make practice more effective. Video demonstrations are offered. I run casual recitals in order to enhance performance skills and mange anxiety/nerves. My music library is rich and varied to suit all musical tastes. Happy learning!!

I have had two lessons with Mariana both two hours long and both have been highly excellent experiences. Mariana is very perceptive towards an individual students needs and aspirations. Marianas knowledge of music both in terms of style and interpretation is substantial. I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending Mariana as a first rate Piano teacher for both older students like me and youngsters as well. I have had many different music teaches over the years so I speak from some experience.

Her attitude towards music in general was really refreshing as I was looking for a tutor who was passionate about what they do, not only did she start teaching me the basics she also enquired about my reason for wanting to learn the piano and the many advantages to come with learning it. I didn't realise how fun the lessons could be and really enjoyed the homework I was given. A very resourceful tutor who clearly takes the upmost pride in her ability to teach and who shows the relevance behind the theory and the practical.

From Lisa (/5): Speaking as an absolute beginner learning the piano at the age of 33, I have found Mariana to be very encouraging and inspiring. Mariana has such a passion for music and teaching that it becomes infectious and her warming persona makes learning with her easy and pleasurable. With each lesson I learn something new and Mariana will give me songbooks and printouts to take home and practice with. At my latest lesson Mariana showed me some new books she'd bought for young children learning the piano that were colourful, interactive and included stickers. I jokingly said I'd like to have one and so Mariana gave me one - I suddenly felt like a big kid again! We had a lot of fun going through it together and at the same time, it helped to reinforce the basics Mariana had already taught me. Mariana has taken onboard my learning abilities and ensures that we go at a pace I'm comfortable with. I would highly recommend Mariana to anyone, no matter what you are looking for in a tutor, Mariana is extremely versatile and adaptable to your needs. I'm looking forward to my next lesson with Mariana and I'm grateful that I found such a great tutor.

I appreciated the friendly welcome, and the fact that you quickly assessed that I needed to feel my way slowly back into playing after such a long break.Your explanations regarding the musical theory behind the piece ('Sonatina' by Scarlatti) in relation to playing it, which I had never heard previously, all made very good sense, and has certainly helped me when practicing. I also enjoyed the sight reading exercises, especially playing those written as a 'duet' with you. I also appreciated the fact that you did not rush this first lesson together and gave me far longer than one hour!
All in all, you made me feel confident of my own ability to make a 'success' of picking up piano playing again at this stage of my life, whilst I felt very confident of your ability and performance as my teacher. Thank you, Mariana!
