Information About Maria - New Malden teacher

Personal Description:

My name is Maria. I am happy to welcome you here. I am a concert pianist, accompanist and a piano teacher with more than 20 years of experience. For the last few years I’ve been teaching my children, my son is preparing for ABRSM grade 8 exam.
I have graduated from the conservatory in Russia as a solo and collaborative pianist and qualified as a piano teacher.
I hold MA in Art History from European University at St.Petersburg (2009-2011).
And MPef (piano) at Guildhall School of Music and Drama (2012-2014).

I am currently enjoying coaching and accompanying advanced string students for festivals, auditions and performances as well as preparing a programme for the solo recital.

Tutoring Experience:

I have started teaching at Music Schools in Russia in 1999. I was working as a piano teacher and accompanist with a choir, singers and music theatre in Russia. I also taught piano and singing privately.

After moving to London in 2011, Ive been privately teaching students from the beginning (5y.o.), to ARSM Dip and adults.
Also, I was doing music classes for babies (0-4 years) in London.
I held a position of a Director of Russian Programming and accompanist for the charity Opera Prelude.

Tutoring Approach:

In my teaching approach, I base on students interest and strongest skills. Alongside incorporating other activities to boost skills that need to be developed more.
I am mainly using academic method that I have been taught at conservatoire in Russia, as well as many modern books tailored individually for each student.
I really enjoy explaining the subject rather than "teach", in order to help students to be effective in their home practice.
