Personal Description:
I am a friendly and professional music teacher recently moved to Gloucestershire and looking for new students. I specialise in flute but I have experience in teaching music theory and beginners piano too.
I have a proven record of successfully preparing my students to ABRSM/Trinity & other common UK curricular exams but I also offer tuition on a more casual basis and have taught beginners too. Lessons in small groups are also available.
A particular feature of my service is my dedicated, individual approach with programmes devised specifically to respond to individual needs and interests of my students.
Adult learners and children (8+) wishing to follow the ABRSM or Trinity grading systems are welcome as is anyone interested in subjects taught.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching music in the UK for ten years. I’ve started teaching flute as a student of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and I’ve since taught music theory and piano as well.
Classically trained in Poland and in England, with a huge love for jazz and an extensive experience in teaching both children and adults, I have been successfully running one on one lessons and small classes in London and surrounding areas.
Tutoring Approach:
I use a combination of sight reading, concert pieces and exercises designed to tackle problematic areas within the pieces. I aim to teach in a clear and engaging way using examples from everyday life to illustrate my points.
Instrumental lessons usually consist of a 45 minute instrumental session + a 15 minute music theory session but variations are possible. Whenever possible I try to offer my students opportunities to play together in small ensembles and perform in the local area.
Students are exposed to a variety of different genres and styles including classical, jazz and folk in order to identify their interests and natural skills. In my lessons I encourage improvisation and have a range of helpful resources, for example, backing tracks to help my students become more confident in their improvising.
If you’re thinking of learning the flute, the piano, or simply taking the first steps in learning how to read music, I’d love to hear from you.
For flute students wishing to follow ABRSM/Trinity grading systems an option of a full exam package including learning resources, rehearsals, live piano accompaniment and assistance at the exam is also offered for an additional fee. Online lessons are also available.

Maria's Feedback

I would recommend Maria to anyone wishing to learn the flute whether young or older like myself.
It's evident that she is a very talented musician herself, but can still empathise with less experienced people who are struggling.
I can't recommend her enough.
